What made you decide to get your CSEP?
So that I could appear as a trusted professional to my external clients and those that may have other designations, such as CMP and PMP. I also wanted to show personal growth and dedication to my organization and internal colleagues who I work with.
What have you been able to achieve since obtaining your CSEP?
I have been able to use my knowledge and resources to inform my events team and be logical about how we proceed with planning and hosting events. Using SWOT analysis and risk management techniques have allowed our team to approach decision making with facts and thoughtfulness.
What is the one most powerful part of having your CSEP?
Having a trusted network of professionals to rely on and call upon all over the world! The CSEP represents a common understanding and a representation of high standards, which is something I seek when connecting with other event industry colleagues.
What advice would you give to someone considering CSEP?
I highly recommend a study session and/or study group to review the content online and glossary terms. I also recommend connecting with CSEPs in your area. Have a conversation with them, and don't focus on "what can I expect of the exam?"; but rather, pick their brain regarding what content you MAY not know or things you don't encounter daily. Then use this information to find professionals in those area of the industry, so that you can achieve a well-rounded basis of knowledge.
