The Lincoln Hills Centennial Celebration was a 2022 summer gathering to honor the 100-year anniversary of African Americans being permitted to vacation on resort land west of the Mississippi. In 1922, two entrepreneurs forged a plan to create an inviting home that not only allowed African Americans to find peace and rest but welcomed them with open arms.
The event occurred at the Lincoln Hills Fishing Clubhouse, outside Boulder, Colorado. Guests included friends and family of our client, who owns a ranch on the Lincoln Hills property. Many of the family members remembered coming to Lincoln Hills when they were children and the property has held a special memory for decades. All guests arrived on shuttles and were brought to a one-of-its-kind concrete infrastructure in the middle of the Rocky Mountains where Kanye West’s choir, Sunday Service, performed a morning worship service. From there, guests were invited to the Lincoln Hills Fishing Clubhouse for lunch catered by all black-owned business owners. Sunday activities included fly fishing, kayaking, textile crafting, chain stitching, and more. Guests could be seen relaxing around the clubhouse playing spades and dominoes. Also in attendance were the mayor of Denver, the superintendent of Denver Public Schools, and a Colorado senator.
