Categories & Criteria

The Esprit Award categories are extensively reviewed and updated each year to ensure the most relevant elements of events and the creative events industry are captured. The Esprit Awards program offers over 16 diverse categories for events professionals.

APPLY TODAY

Criteria

Any individual and/or company representative in the events industry is eligible to enter the Esprit Awards competition. Entrants can submit any of their events that occurred between  January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 into the 2023 Esprit Awards competition. Choose the category that best fits your event(s).

Category-specific criteria is available below:

 

Categories

CATERED

The Catered category recognizes outstanding design and production of food and/or beverage for an event, or series of events. 

DESIGN/DECOR  

The Design/Decor category recognizes outstanding design and production of decor elements for an event or series of events.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION INTIATIVE

The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Initiative category recognizes an outstanding event, or series of events that Creates cultural inclusion and belonging, through workplace and/or attendee diversity, diversity intelligence & vendor/supplier diversity.

ENTERTAINER/ENTERTAINMENT

The Entertainer/Entertainment category recognizes an outstanding entertainer or entertainment production for an event or series of events.

EVENT CAPTURE

The Event Capture category recognizes outstanding capture of an event through photographs and/or video.

HYBRID

The Hybrid category recognizes an outstanding event or series of events that incorporates both a live audience and a live virtual audience.

INNOVATION

The Innovation category recognizes an outstanding new element or idea that elevates an event, or series of events.

LOGISTICS

The Logistics category recognizes outstanding problem solving for complex logistical challenges required to execute an event, event element, or series of events.

MAKES AN IMPACT/GIVES BACK

The Makes an Impact/Gives Back category recognizes the positive social, environmental, or cultural impact of an event or series of events.

MARKETING CAMPAIGN

The Marketing Campaign category recognizes an outstanding event or series of events that achieves marketing objectives.

MARKETING COLLATERAL

The Marketing Collateral category recognizes outstanding media material (print or digital) used to promote or provide engagement for an event - in person, hybrid or virtual.

MULTI-DAY

The Multi-Day category recognizes an outstanding event spanning the course of more than one day with set up and breakdown days are not included.

PLANNING

The Planning category recognizes outstanding achievement in planning for live event.

SCENIC DESIGN, INSTALLATION OR EXHIBIT DESIGN

The Scenic Design, Installation or Exhibit Design category recognizes outstanding design and production of scenic/set design, temporary installations and or exhibit or tradeshow booths.

TECHNICAL PRODUCTION

The Technical Production category recognizes outstanding design and achievement of AV production and technology for an event or series of events.

VIRTUAL

The Virtual category recognizes an outstanding event or series of events for a 100% virtual audience who are able to participate in real time.

 

Esprit Awards Audience

CORPORATE

Event planned for and/or by a corporation. Event has a business objective and seeks a return on investment in educating or entertaining employees, clients, prospects, or industry. Examples include incentives, meetings, conference, brand activation, or product launch.

ASSOCIATION/NON-PROFIT

Event is planned for and/or by a not-for profit organization or association. Events purpose may include driving awareness of a cause or industry, raising money, educating or entertaining association members, stakeholders, and/or donors. Examples include conference, tradeshow, awards program, fundraiser.

PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL

A social event planned for a private individual(s) with the purpose of celebrating a milestone. Examples include birthday, house warming, graduation, funeral, anniversary, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, engagement, baby shower, gender reveal, bridal shower.

PUBLIC

An event designed and produced for attendees that are members of the public. Examples include: tradeshow, fair, festival, civic event, concert, fashion show, nightclub event, pop ups etc.

WEDDING

An event planned for private individuals with the purpose of commemorating a wedding.
