A Message of Solidarity From ILEA
As an association built on a community of people, we are outraged and heartbroken by the senseless killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and too many other Black people before them. Yesterday, we as a global organization stepped back and took a pause - out of solidarity and in the spirit of listening to the voices raised in protest around the United States. ILEA is dedicated to bringing people together in celebration which means we adamantly reject violence but understand the pain and anguish that sometimes sparks it. We are committed to the greater fight for universal peace and respect.
ILEA is focused on inclusivity at all levels of our organization, including seeking out and creating educational resources in areas where we can improve this. While it's difficult to find the right words, our international leadership team and chapter leaders around the world are committed to doing away with injustice, oppression, and discrimination in the world, finding better ways to articulate that commitment and fostering a community that lives it.
ILEA believes that love is stronger than hate, that actions speak louder than words, and that Black Lives Matter. We are listening, we understand, and we stand together.
