Let’s get started on building a vibrant, connected community of live event professionals!

Purpose & Vision

Vision

To be the principal association representing creative events professionals globally.

Values

Creativity, inspiration, teamwork, education, relationships, outward awareness, and credibility.

Mission

To support the global creative events profession through networking, education, and professional development.

Understand the need for an ILEA Chapter in your area.

There must be a need for education of local special event professionals as well as evidence of available people to provide the leadership and management of an organization that provides the highest quality of educational opportunities.

Ensure there are enough potential members and leaders.

There must be a sufficient number of potential members in the geographical area to support the formal structure of an ILEA Chapter. The minimum number of full members is 35 but chapters are encouraged to set a goal of at least 60 members.

Pre-Launch Considerations

Formation Steps

Step 1: Become an ILEA member if you are not already one.

Step 4: Obtain an EIN, open a bank account, and register with local government
Step 5: Recruit at least 25 members and organize recruitment events.

Step 7: Complete the probationary period (12-18 months) with regular operations and reporting.
Step 8: Petition the International Board of Governors for the official Chapter Charter.

Operational Guidelines

  • Chapters must operate as for-profit entities.

  • Legal counsel is recommended for proper documentation and compliance.

  • Regular communication with ILEA Headquarters and Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) is essential.

Membership and Leadership

  • Membership is individual-based, not organization-based.

  • Chapters provide local support, education, and networking opportunities.

  • Leadership development is a key focus, with opportunities to serve on international committees

Resources and Support

  • ILEA provides marketing materials, bylaws, and operational manuals.

  • Chapters receive rebates based on membership growth and activity.

This manual outlines the structured process and essential steps for successfully forming and operating an ILEA Chapter, emphasizing the importance of adherence to ILEA’s vision, values, and operational standards.
