We invite you to apply—or nominate a colleague—for a leadership role on the ILEA Board of Governors or as a Regional Vice President. This year, the nomination process has been streamlined into a single application period, allowing you to apply for one or multiple positions that align with your interests and expertise.

2025-2026 ILEA International Leadership Positions

The ILEA Nominations Committee is seeking candidates to serve on the International Board of Governors or as Regional Vice Presidents for the following positions:

International Director
up to three (3) open positions

  • Term of office: three (3) years

  • Eligibility requirements: ILEA member of good standing who has served as a Chapter President, Chapter Board Member, International Committee Member, or has other high-level board or leadership experience.

International Officer
three (3) open positions

  • Open positions: Secretary, Treasurer and President-Elect

  • Term of office: one (1) year

  • Eligibility Requirements: Ideal candidates are present or past member of the Board of Governors.

Regional Vice President 
two (2) open position

  • Open positions: US East and US West

  • Term of office: one (1) year with an option for a second-year term

  • Eligibility Requirements: Ideal candidates are those who have served as a Chapter President. 

  • Current RVPs who have served their first year and confirmed acceptance of the second-year term will be included on the election slate when presented to ILEA members.

The International Nominations process is led by the International Nominating Committee. The goal of this committee is to make the nomination process for ILEA International leadership positions transparent and to increase the diversity of the number of qualified applicants for the board. The candidates for the International Board of Governors, Officers of the Board, and Regional Vice President are slated by the International Nominating Committee and approved by ILEA members.

While we will expect a lot, we promise you will gain even more from the experience!

 

What Are the Expectations of a Director on the International Board of Governors?

  • Support the mission of the organization.

  • Share your areas of expertise with the board and staff

  • Be an advocate for the organization; promote it in ways appropriate to your profession and contacts

  • Maintain your membership, and in addition to membership, make a meaningful financial contribution appropriate to your circumstances

  • Fulfill the duties of care, obedience and loyalty to the organization. Active participation in Board meetings, reviewing financial reports and exercising fiduciary oversight, and participate in regular assessment to improve overall board performance.

  • Cultivate relationships to support the organization, such as sponsorships, advertisers, members, speakers, etc.

  • Participate in strategic planning activities and regular reviews of the organization’s programs and services.

  • Serve as committee chair on at least one committee or task force each year.

  • Assist in identification and development of new leadership in conjunction with the board development committee

  • Participate in the organization’s conferences and meetings.
